Did you say Cactoidz?
Introducing our newest NFT collection - Cactoidz!
These adorable and unique monsters are sure to bring a touch of quirkiness and charm to your digital world. Each creature is designed with great care and inspired by the unique beauty of cacti, making them one-of-a-kind collectibles that you won't find anywhere else.
The genesis of this collection begins with Georges...
Georges, a young artist and designer, once decided to take a trip to the Mexican desert for his holidays. He was fascinated by the rugged beauty of the landscape and couldn't wait to explore the area.
On his first day in the desert, Georges was struck by the resilience of the cacti. He watched as they stood tall and proud in the scorching sun, seemingly unphased by the harsh conditions. He marveled at their ability to survive in such a hostile environment and was inspired to capture their unique beauty in his art.
As he wandered deeper into the desert, Georges came across a cactus that reminded him of a human face. The cactus had a long, thin nose and two large, round eyes. Georges was so taken with the cactus that he decided to sketch it in his notebook. He later used the sketch as the basis for one of the creatures in his collection.
On another day, Georges woke up from a nap and was startled by the shadow of a cactus. The cactus had grown so large that it cast a monstrous shadow on the ground. Georges laughed at himself for being so easily frightened, but he couldn't help but be impressed by the scale of the cactus.
These experiences in the desert, with the cacti and the feelings they evoked in Georges, inspired him to create a dedicated NFT collection, bringing a piece of the desert to anyone's digital world.
At fantomized, we saw some links between what Georges experimented and the world of Crypto.
Like, how some long bear periods can be compared to crossing a desert...
Or how life always finds a way to survive in the most hostile environment, and bloom nonetheless
So we imagined the Cactoidz as rugged creatures of some desert far west, fearless companions, able to protect your savings or nfts from the bandits and rough conditions of the crypto world.
By digging, we found more interesting stuff about the cacti, we took inspiration from.
Did you know, for instance...
After his trip to the desert, Georges couldn't shake the fascination he had with cacti. He spent hours reading encyclopedia articles and watching documentaries about them, learning more about their unique properties and behaviors.
He discovered that some cacti have medicinal properties and have been used for centuries by indigenous people to treat a variety of ailments. He also learned that some cacti are able to store large amounts of water in their trunks, allowing them to survive in the desert for months without rain.
Georges was also fascinated by the fact that some cacti are able to bloom beautiful flowers, despite the harsh conditions. He learned that the blooming cacti are a sign of survival and adaptation, as they are able to reproduce in the most hostile environment.
Georges also discovered that cacti have a symbiotic relationship with certain species of animals, such as bats, birds, and insects. The animals are attracted to the cacti for their nectar, pollen, or fruit and in return, they help with pollination and seed dispersal.
As Georges continued to research cacti, he became particularly interested in their spikes. He learned that the spikes are actually modified leaves that have evolved to protect the cactus from potential predators such as herbivores. The spikes also help to reduce water loss by providing shade for the cactus and reducing the surface area exposed to the sun.
He also found out that the spikes of the cacti can also be used for survival purposes by some animals, such as the cactus wren, which use the spikes as a protection from predators while they build their nests on cacti.
All these new discoveries made us more determined to pay homage to the cacti in this collection, and make them accessible to everyone.
We wanted to share our admiration and respect for the resilience, adaptability, and beauty of these plants with the crypto world - a modern far west, where these qualities are much needed for survival.
